Sun Peaks

Sun peaks for Hedon motorcycle helmets, in exposed carbon, white carbon, and classic finishes. They cut low morning and evening sun out of your eyeline without darkening your visor. Six options, all fitted with the screws already on your helmet.

Sun Peaks for Motorcycle Helmets

A sun peak for a motorcycle helmet is the simplest fix for the worst light of the day. Low sun in the eyes at seven in the morning or six in the evening is more dangerous than most riders admit, and a tinted visor is the wrong tool for it because it darkens everything else at the same time.

A peak shades from above and leaves the rest of your view clear. Six options here, made for Hedon's open face shells and fitted with the hardware already on your helmet.

What a Sun Peak Does

The peak sits above the eyeport and blocks light coming in over the top of your visor. It works the same way a cap brim does.

  • Low sun: shades your eyes without reducing light on the road surface ahead, which cuts sun glare during morning and evening rides without leaving you squinting into shadow.
  • Dappled light: helps under trees and through hedgerows, where a tinted visor leaves you squinting in the shade.
  • Bright horizon light: manages glare on open roads where the sky sits high and bright, so your eyes don't fatigue as fast on longer rides.
  • Light rain: holds a little water off the top of the visor at slower speeds.
  • Debris on trails: on adventure and dual sport rides, a peak also deflects flying debris from the front tire of the bike ahead of you.

A peak isn't a replacement for a visor or goggles. It shades from above and leaves your eyes open to wind and grit from the front, so you'll want to run one or the other for real eye protection.

Carbon, Classic, and Motocross

Three shapes across six finishes:

  • Carbon Sun Peak: exposed carbon or white carbon, matte or glossy. The lightest option and the one that holds its shape best at speed.
  • Classic Peak: the shallow traditional brim. Quietest at speed and closest to a vintage profile.
  • Motocross Peak: deeper and angled further down, made for off-road and dual sport riding where you're scanning the ground ahead.

If most of your miles are on tarmac, the carbon or classic peak is the one. The motocross shape catches noticeably more wind at road speeds.

Fitting Your Sun Peak

The peak mounts to the side fittings already on your helmet using the standard visor screws. No drilling, no adhesive, about two minutes with a small screwdriver.

Tighten until the peak holds position, and stop there. Too loose and it lifts at speed. Too tight and you risk stripping the mount. If you're not sure which peak fits your helmet, our team can confirm from your model and year.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a sun peak on a motorcycle helmet?

A sun peak is a shaped brim fitted above the visor that blocks light coming in from above your line of sight. It shades your eyes from low morning and evening sun without darkening your whole field of view, which is what a tinted visor does. On open face helmets, it's also a defining part of the classic silhouette.

Which Hedon helmets take a sun peak?

Sun peaks fit Hedon helmets that carry our standard side visor mounts, which covers the Hedonist and Epicurist open face shells. The product page lists the models each peak fits. Peaks are made for Hedon hardware and won't fit other manufacturers, since mount spacing and screw patterns differ between brands.

Will a sun peak slow me down or make noise?

A peak adds a little wind noise and drag, and how much depends on the shape. The Classic Peak is the shallowest and quietest. The Motocross Peak is deeper and angled down, so it catches more air and is noticeably louder at road speeds. Carbon peaks hold their shape best at speed because they flex less than the alternatives.

Can I use a sun peak and goggles together?

Yes, and on an open face helmet that's the traditional combination. The peak shades from above while the goggles seal your eyes against wind, insects, and road debris. Riders who run a peak without eye protection tend to regret it on the first fast road.

What's the difference between carbon and classic peaks?

Carbon peaks are lighter and stiffer, so they hold their shape at higher speeds. Classic peaks sit shallower against the shell and give the closest match to a vintage profile. Both mount the same way. Choose carbon if you regularly ride at speed, and classic if the look matters most.

Do sun peaks work in rain and off-road conditions?

Yes. A sun peak holds a little water off the top of the visor at slower speeds, which helps in light rain. On off-road and dual sport rides, the deeper Motocross Peak also deflects flying debris and mud kicked up by the bike ahead, and improves your view of the ground when you're scanning terrain. For pure highway riding, the Classic or Carbon peaks are the smarter choice.
